TENETS OF FAITH
WE ACCEPT AS OUR SPECIFIC TENETS OF FAITH THE STATEMENT OF FUNDAMENTAL TRUTHS OF THE GENERAL COUNCIL OF THE ASSEMBLIES OF GOD, CONDENSED AS FOLLOWS:
1. WE BELIEVE...in the divine inspiration of the Bible, our all-sufficient rule of faith and conduct
(2 Timothy 3:15-16).
2. WE BELIEVE...in one God, Creator of all things, eternally existent in three persons--Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Mark 12:29)
3. WE BELIEVE...in the prophetic and virgin birth of Christ, His vicarious death, bodily resurrection, and ascencion. (Isaiah 7:14; Romans 8:34; Acts 1:9-10)
4. WE BELIEVE...in the necessity of the rebirth of man and in his consequent salvation from spiritual death and hell, through acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior. (John 3:1-7; 16:18; 1 John 5:11-12)
5. WE BELIEVE...in the observable evidence of regeneration, the inward evidence being the direct witness of the Holy spirit, and the outward evidence being a life of holiness and love of God
and man. (Romans 8:16; 1 Peter 1:15-16; Matthew 22:36-40)
6. WE BELIEVE...in baptism by immersion, symbolic of our death, burial, and resurrection with Christ, through whom we walk in newness of life. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38)
7. WE BELIEVE...in regular participation in Holy Communion, in remembrance of Him who
is our Gospel. (1 Corinthians 11:23-30)
8. WE BELIEVE...in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, signified by the evidence of speaking in
other languages, an experience distinct from and subsequent to the new birth. (Acts 2:4, 19:2)
9. WE BELIEVE...in sanctification as an act of separation from that which is evil, and of
dedication unto God. (Romans 12:1-2; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Hebrews 13:12)
10. WE BELIEVE...in the privilege of divine healing of body, mind and spirit through faith in
God. (Isaiah 53:4-5; Matthew 8:16-17; James 5:13-16)
11. WE BELIEVE...in the second coming to earth of Jesus the Lord, who will receive the
Church as His chosen bride and will institute new heavens and a new earth. (Acts 1:11;
2 Peter 3:9-13; Revelation 21:1-5)
12. WE BELIEVE...Divine Healing of the Sick is a Privilege for Christians Today and is provided for in Christ's atonement (His sacrificial death on the cross for our sins). [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]
13. WE BELIEVE...in The Blessed Hope When Jesus Raptures His Church Prior to His
Return to Earth (the second coming). At this future moment in time all believers who have
died will rise from their graves and will meet the Lord in the air, and Christians who are alive
will be caught up with them, to be with the Lord forever. [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]
14. WE BELIEVE...in The Millennial Reign of Christ when Jesus returns with His saints at
His second coming and begins His benevolent rule over earth for 1,000 years. This millennial
reign will bring the salvation of national Israel and the establishment of universal peace.
15. WE BELIEVE...A Final Judgment Will Take Place for those who have rejected Christ. They
will be judged for their sin and consigned to eternal punishment in a punishing lake of fire.
16. WE BELIEVE...and look forward to the perfect New Heavens and a New Earth that
Christ is preparing for all people, of all time, who have accepted Him. We will live and dwell with
Him there forever following His millennial reign on Earth. 'And so shall we forever be with the Lord!'
